On the second Saturday in the holidays I went to a show in Matamata. At the show I showed my calf Millie in the Calf Club section and the Young Handles section. For the Calf Club section there are three rings witch are leading, rearing and Dairy Type.
For leading there was 15-17 people in the senior ring that I was in. There were only six places to get so it was quite hard! I decided that I was going to lead my calf first so she wouldn't get tired waiting for other people. I didn't get anything for leading because I was going a bit fast on the 3 second stop. At least Millie didn't stop!
After leading I did rearing. There was still 15-17 people in my ring. I told the judge what I new about my calf like what injections she needs, when she was born what she eats, when she has her milk and what here name was. After I told the judge that the judge looked at how clean she was, how soft she was, how nicely brushed she was and if she had 4 teats. The last thing was dairy type. Dairy type is just about what your calf looks like. For Dairy type there are heavy and light breeds. I was in the light breed because my calf is a jersey. I got third in it.
After the Calf Club section I did Young Handles. For Young Handles we have to look at the judge while we are walking with them and stand our calves. I got third in it as well. The next show I am doing is our school Calf Club and I know its going to be hard again!
