Yellow Fever Wiping Out Monkeys

  Yellow Fever Wiping Out Monkeys

In Espirito Santo there is a disease called Yellow Fever. The yellow fever is a viral disease that is found in the tropical regions of Africa and the Americas that mainly affects humans and monkeys and is transmitted by the same type of mosquito that spreads dengue and the Zika virus. The monkeys are vulnerable to yellow fever just like humans.

SwImming Sports

On Monday it was NPS swimming sports. The first length I did was Champion freestyle and for that length I think I got 3rd out of 6 which I was really pleased of because I didn’t think I would do that well in freestyle.
The next thing I did was two lengths freestyle and I got 3rd out of 4 and I was really, really surprised with what I got because I would usually come last because I get really puffed so I was really happy about that.
Next it was champion one length backstroke and I think I got 3rd out of 6 because it was pretty hard to see what I got but I am still really happy.
Next I did one length breaststroke and in that I got 3rd for that and for 2 lengths I got 3rd as well.
I was really proud of myself and I hope I improve more and maybe get 1st!

Catching a kahawai

On Thursday we went fishing again and when we were heading down we saw dolphins and whales.
Next we saw a big school of fish and then I got hooked up with a kahawai. then we left to way it in and it wayed 2.82 KGS. Sadly it wasn't a record but I was still pleased that I got a fish.
On Wednesday we went fishing in two tournaments - the New Zealand Sports fishing nationals, and the Tristram Marine Open Tournament.

We went fishing for snapper and trevally. We caught 3 small trivially, that we used for bait. After an hour we went to deeper water and put out the lures. After about twenty minutes one rod finally went off and after a few minutes the fish finally came in and it was a skippy. After we kept going and then I got hooked up with a King fish and when I brang it in it was to small so we let it go. After a while we decided to head back to way my skippy and it way 4.68 KG's and it was a NZ record on the line wait!

Staying at home.

On Tuesday we had a change of plans and we were meant to go to the beach but we stayed at home instead. Because I stayed at home I thought it would be a good idea to help my mum tidy up the house and also tidy my room. After I did a big tidy I went to play with my cat. When I when to find her she was snuggled up on my chair so I didn't want to move her, so instead I went to find my other cat and she was rolling around outside so I played with her.

Bye, Bye Celine

On Monday I was in Palmerston North because we went to drop off my sister Celine to go to University. When I first saw the University I was mind blown because is was so big! When I went to have a look around it there was a pond called the vet pond that had eels and heaps of kind of ducks in it.
Here is a photo of the building that my sister is staying in.

Pepeha

This is our Marama Pepeha.
For my Pepeha I did a pitcher of what I like doing in life and where I grow up in. The first thing I drew was the ocean with little fish in it because I really like fishing and I have been on a boat since I was really young. The next thing I did was a mountain because I like hiking. The next thing I did was a cow because I've lived on a farm for my whole life.
The next thing I did was some ribbons because I like showing cattle. then the next thing I did was a bike because I like biking and the last thing I did was our boat called Bounty Hunter because we've had it ever since I was born.

Our Tikanga ( Marama Way )

Always having a Growth Mindset
Having a growth mindset is very inportent to have in Marama , because you always have to have positive thoughts when your doing something so you can get it done and over with. Never have a fixed mindset because when  you have a fixed mindset you can't have the confidence to do hard things and so you give without trying.

Tuakana Teina

I have put myself at Tupu because I am self managed but sometime I can get distracted by my friends. The way I can stop getting distracted and move up to Tuakana is that I can move away from my friends if they distract me or I can work by myself so then I definitely not get distracted.

Multiple Intelligence's

Today the year 7's did a test called the Multiple Intelligence's. I have learned that I learn best outside. My best strengths are Musical and Naturalistic and I scored 75% on both of them. I am not surprised that I scored high on Musical because I play the saxophone and I love listing to music. I am also not surprised that I scored high on Naturalistic because I love taking photos.

Here is a photo of my score
