Camp!

1.You always need a positive mindset in everything that you do in life.
2. Aiming to always do your best.
3. If you fail try again.
4. Always use the advice people give you.
5. Success is a lousy teacher.

  1. What OPEN question would you ask him?
What would you have done if you weren’t an All Black?
  1. What would you thank him for?
Thank you for inspiring a lot of people.
  1. What else would you say to him/ask him about/tell him…?

Do you remember me when I went to Avondale Primary and I had my calf there?

Camp

What is your goal for camp? My goal is to face my little fare with heights on the high ropes and make new friends.

Why are you coming on camp? I am coming because I want to use heaps of my learning powers and learn heaps about how I can connect with other team members. I would also like to know people better. I am also coming so I can do stuff and challenge myself without my mum and dad being there.

What skills, strengths, qualities, powers do you possess that will help you have a really successful camp experience? I will be using all five of my powers and I will cooperate with lots of people.

What will you do if you have a problem at camp? Who will you speak to? What will help you solve your problem? If I have a problem, the first person I would go to is the teacher, but if the teacher isn’t there I would find a nearby parent. What would help me solve the problem is thinking how I can solve the problem and then trying to solve it.

How will you be an effective team member in your car group, activity group and cabin group? What will we see or hear? I will connect with my group and I will listen to them and help other team mates.

Kaka Population Increases

In the South Island the kākā have made an extraordinary comeback in a Fiordland forest following a pest eradication project. In the mid 2000s the kākā population in Waitutu Forest was being ravaged by stoats and possums. The population surveys showed that males outnumbered females by an average of six to one. But , a population sample taken in December last year shows a turn-around in the parrot’s fortunes with female kākā rebounding and young birds on the rise again. Pest control in the Fiordland National Park, has included localised trapping and poisoning for stoats and possums. Planes have also applied 1080 over up to 30,000 hectares when pest numbers have been high due to forest seeding. Annual bird counts at over 700 points in the forest also show an increase in other forest birds such as robin and kākāriki. The pest control programme was supported by the Waitutu SILNA and the Nature Heritage Fund, which contributed $1.7 million for pest control.

5kg of coins removed from turtle

5kg of coins removed from turtle

Thai vets have found 5kg of coins inside a green sea turtle named Omsin and it had been living at a conservation centre in Sriracha, Chonburi, east of the Thai capital of Bangkok. The turtle had eaten the 900 coins after they were thrown into her enclosure for good luck. The coins and other objects were removed from Omsin, which means piggy bank in Thai. The coins weighed 5kg with the turtle itself weighing 59kg. The vets said they believed the seven-hour-long operation was the world’s first such surgery.

Morrinsville A&P Show

On Saturday I was the Morrinsville show and I took to calves to it and they were my Shorthorn and my Jersey calf club calf. I only had 3 days to do them because we were fishing the week before. The first ring I did was Leading in the Calf Club section and for that I got 2nd. When I went to the Champion ring I didn’t get a ribbon because my calf stopped when she went around the loop.
The next thing I did was Rearing and in that class I got 6th because my calf’s coat didn’t look the best because I only had three days to do her. The next ring I did was Diary Type and for that ring I got 6th because some really nice calves there.
After Calf Club the next class I had was the Shorthorn class and in that class I got 7th.
The next thing I did was the All Breads class and I didn’t get a place because there was about 20 other calves.
The last ring I did was Young Handlers and in that class I got 5th and the ribbon was a really pretty colour.
After all the classes had a little look around and there was the clown game and I did it twice and I got bubble mix and a lollipop but I traded my bubble mix with my friend and instead I got a minion spinning top that plays music.
I had so much fun and I can’t wait till next year to go to the Morrinsville show.

IE

This year I am doing something really knew to what I would usually in whetu and it is could IE. For this we are doing something a little bit like impact but we are not in a group, instead you do it yourself. What I am doing for IE is, how was the ocean formed and things about the sea life. For this inquiry is that I would like to ask some people who have heap of knowledge about the history and sea life. The learning powers I will be using Resilience because when I am looking through books they might not have good information and it might take awhile to find good books. I am hoping to learn heaps about the sea and I am excited to do the creation.

Thursday First, you  shake the present to guess what is inside. Then you try to carefully tear the sellotape of the paper...
